Brittney and Blake Engaged!!!!

Karina and I had a dream shoot come true. As we were talking to Brittney and Blake about what they saw for their pictures, we grew sooo excited about the direction they took. They wanted a couple downtown but then they wanted to go out to Blake's family farm. THEN, he said piano....and we were hooked! Blake's father was a piano player and he passed away a few years ago. So, he wanted to use his father's first piano. We wanted something that was near and dear to their heart and this was! Not only is the image of them and the piano in a field of winter wheat beautiful but it's also very meaningful.

As we started our shoot, Karina and I knew we were going to have a fabulous session. Brittney and Blake are so in love with each other and it is sooo sweet to watch them interact. We cannot wait for their wedding because it is going to be so beautiful! AND I know for a fact that Brittney is going to make a stunning bride!!! Brittney and Blake, we had sooo much fun shooting with ya'll and we hope you love your pictures just as much as we do!! -Lauren and Karina

Soul Flowers!

I had an amazing Easter weekend! I went up to Tennessee and spent the weekend with my family and friends! We went up early Saturday because I had been asked to take some pictures for an AMAZING florist! Her name is Jessica Fell and she owns Soul Flowers. I met Jessica early March at a bridal fair and I knew from the minute I saw her work that our styles and taste were very similar! Jessica has recently moved to Tennessee and has set up shop in Winchester. She had asked me if I could come up and take sme photos of her shop and I was like "Of course!".

I was so excited because this isn't your everyday shoot and it was something new and different. We got up to Winchester around 1. When I walked into her shop, I am pretty sure I gasped. It is AWESOME!!!! I honestly want to move in and live there. If you could imagine anthropologie making over a flower shop then this would be it! It is eclectic and wimsical but everything is placed just right at the same time! She has the exposed brick, the old hard wood floors, and of course she has amazing flowers everywhere! Her knowledge of flowers is abundant and she uses very different flowers (most that I have never seen or heard of).

Well, we had fun shooting the shop and then I asked if she would like me to get a few shots of her and she was like ...well...okay...sure. She admitted to me that she wasn't very comfortable in front of a camera abd that I would probably have to direct her. THe first ten photos were like that but then We started to talk and she just loosened up and started to smile and laugh and got so many beautiful shots of her. I have been so blessed to have met Jessica and cannot wait to get to know her more. I highly suggest anyone and everyone that is looking for a florist to give her a call!!! You can check out her site at http://www.soulflowers.org/ or e-mail or at Jessica@soulflowers.org
Jess, I hope you enjoy the shots I got and cannot wait to come back and get more!!

Passion and Fashion!

I got an e-mail from a previous client about helping her on a project for her application for Redken. When I read what she had written, I just got sooo excited because it sounded like fun! This is why I love photography and I never want to limit myself because you miss out on fun opportunities such as Sunday.

Part of her application is a scrapbook filled with various things. Letters of reccomendation, clientel stuff and are you ready...............PICTURES!!!! WooHoo for pictures!!! She had told me a little bit about what was involved and the wheels started turning in my head. I tend to get carried away with ideas so I thought we might need to discuss further what was needed and wanted. Brittany has definately gone far and beyond of what is needed in her whole application packet and I love seeing how passionate she is about her career! We started to talk about ideas and hair and clothes and then by the end of it I just wanted to get up and start that day. But of course I had to wait for the weekend!

Brittany had set up 3 models to come in for the day to get their hair did and take some photos. The only problem was that is was pouring down rain outside and rain+hair= no no. So we did the best we could. The first model up was Kelly Ann and she had the worst of the weather. But she did awesome. I applaud all 3 girls for "working it".

By the end of the day the weather had cleared up and I got some amazing shots withthe last girl. I just want to post some cause I was sooo excited about them! I hope you enjoy!!!Ms Kelly Ann..... so cute!Ms AshleyShe was AMAZING!!! I just wanted to keep shooting her! Ms Tessa!
Brittany herself rockin' it!

Last week my little bro-in-law, his girlfriend, and I went downtown to play around. It was the first day in along time that the sun came out and it was acting as if a blizzard was coming. We were blessed with such a beautiful day to snap some photos. They were sch great sports or shall I say models. Afterwards we went and got a cup of coffee at one of my fav spots. We chatted and soaked up some sunshine. It was a pretty good day if you ask me!

Sweet Roots Photography Turns 1 - 2009 A Year In Review

So, it has almost been a year since Sweet Roots has come alive. It started out by taking pictures of my cute prego sister but I never dreamed that in the same year I would shoot 2 weddings, 3 engagements, 2 bridals, 7 family shoots, 6 kiddo shoots, 1 couples shoot, and a corporate gig. I have learned so much in the past year not only about photography but about myself. I have gained friends in the process which has made the journey that much sweeter! So, for a little review I am posting some of my fav shots that haven't been on the blog in a while from 2009. I can't tell you what 2010 is going to bring but, I can tell you this....I'm grabbing life by the horns so look out for Sweet Roots and some awesomeness that's going to happen!!!! Happy New Year!!!

I would like to end by saying this......... No matter what anyone says to you, about you, or behind you .... dreams do come true if you believe in them and in yourself!!!
